In-Person Counselling in Leeds City Centre, LS1

As a Registered and Accredited counsellor I provide in-person counselling in Leeds city centre (LS1). Whether you have been thinking about therapy for years or just recently, sitting down with an experienced counsellor face to face in a quiet, private, confidential room is often the most natural place to begin.

Why choose face-to-face counselling?

Face-to-face counselling offers a safe, supportive space to explore your thoughts, emotions and life challenges without judgment.

Many people find that being physically present with a therapist helps them feel more connected, understood and supported. Something shifts when you are in the same room as another person who is paying you their full attention. You can be met in a way that is difficult to replicate any other way:

  • Nothing gets lost. A pause, a change in your breathing, a moment where your eyes fill up — I notice these things and we can gently look at them together. So much of what matters in therapy happens between the words.
  • The room itself does some of the work. Leaving the house, travelling to a set place at a set time and closing the door behind you creates a clear boundary between your therapy and the rest of your life.
  • You are away from everyday distractions. No family members in the next room, no housemates, no notifications, no risk of being overheard. For many people this is the first genuinely private hour they have had in a long time.
  • It is a ritual you can rely on. Coming to the same room each week builds a sense of safety and continuity that clients value enormously.

The therapy room in Leeds city centre (LS1)

In Leeds my comfortable and relaxing therapy room is conveniently located in Leeds City Centre, with scenic views over the Leeds Liverpool canal and the River Aire. It is a calm, quiet space with one purpose in mind: making it easier for you to talk.

The location is easy to reach from anywhere in Leeds and across West Yorkshire. It is a short 5 minutes walk from Leeds railway station and the main bus routes, which makes it straightforward to fit a session around work, whether you come first thing in the morning, at lunchtime or on your way home.

If you are arriving by car there are multiple car parks available with the closest one being located 1 minute walk away on Whitehall Road (Citi Park). The next closest car park is the NCP Leeds Wellington Place located nearby (3 mins walk) at LS1 4A.

What happens in an in-person counselling session

During these in-person counselling sessions you will have the opportunity to speak freely and at your own pace, with the added comfort of a warm, welcoming environment. It is a dedicated time and space just for you, where you can focus on what really matters.

Counselling is not about me telling you what to do. I will encourage you to talk about what is concerning you, and I will listen with empathy while we explore your thoughts and feelings together.

Who in-person counselling can help

In-person counselling is theraputic for most issues, or you are simply looking for space to reflect and grow. It offers a natural, human connection that many people find deeply healing.

You do not need to be in crisis to come to counselling, and you do not need a diagnosis or a tidy explanation of what is wrong. “Something isn’t right and I don’t know what” is a perfectly good place to start.

In-person or online — which is right for you?

Both work. The research is consistent that online counselling is just as effective for most people, so this is a question of what suits your life rather than one being a lesser option.

In-person tends to suit you if you want a clear separation between therapy and home, you do not have a private space to talk in, you find screens draining, or you simply feel more comfortable in the same room as another person.

Online tends to suit you if you travel frequently, have caring responsibilities that make an hour away difficult, live outside Leeds or York, or you would find it easier to open up from somewhere familiar.

Some clients mix the two. Coming in person most weeks and switching to a video session when work or travel makes it difficult. That flexibility is built in, and you do not have to decide now.

Book an in-person counselling session

Taking the first step is usually the hardest part of counselling — and it is often the one that makes the biggest difference.

Please call or text me on 07921 101 505, or email tim@therapyuk.co.uk, for a free, no-obligation consultation. There is no pressure and no commitment. If I am in a session I will call you back as soon as I can.
