Self-esteem is the confidence that one has in ones own worth and abilities. Ultimately this is the amount of self-respect that an individual has for themselves.   An individual who is lacking these is said to have low self esteem.

Low self-esteem is can be a temporary and normal response to life circumstances however prolonged and habitual feelings of low self esteem can impact other areas such as confidence and relationships with other people.   It can prevent you from realising your potential and from becomming the person that you truely are.   This can often result in a negative cycle which reinforces negative thoughts, feelings and actions of low self esteem.

An experienced counsellor can help you to identify explore these thoughts, feelings and emotions in a way that will help you break this cycle and unlock your potential.
